Week 5 - Reflection 3: Presentations

Typically, when we think about presenting, we think of standing up in front of a crowd, or for some of us, standing at the front of the classroom with a PowerPoint presentation. Technology has become embedded in our every day lives and make up some of the 21 st century skills students will need for their future beyond their schooling years. The ability to be able to present information by utilizing digital media allows students to develop effective communication skills. Visme is an online tool that can be used as an alternative to the overused PowerPoint. Visme offers a variety of content type such as documents, social media graphics, infographics and presentations. However, for the purpose of this blog we will be focusing solely on their presentation feature. The program is completely free to use but does offer various paid tiers with versions specifically designed for students and educators. Week 4 - Reflection 2: Canva

Various types of digital media can be implemented into the classroom in order to enhance student learning. Digital images present students with a wealth of information and also provide them with a method to communicate with others (Hobdell, 2022). One image type known as a graphic organiser, can allow students to organise information and visualise connections. This is highly beneficial as neuroscience indicated that our brains are wired to work with visual data (Hobdell, 2022). Canva can be used to create presentations, posters, graphic organisers and a variety of documents by allowing the user to edit images and layouts to suit a wide range of needs. Week 3 - Reflection 1: Web Spaces (Blogs)

Even though I would consider myself equally a producer and consumer of technology, I have had very little experience with blogging as throughout my Bachelor’s degree I focused more on website creation. I have found that I have thoroughly enjoyed experimenting and discovering the tools available in the free platform, Blogger.   Online sites, such as a blogging platform can benefit students learning through several aspects. Incorporating ICTs into the classroom allows students to engage, enhance and extend learning in pedagogically sound, flexible, and innovative ways (Moges Alemu, 2015) . Furthermore, technology allows for the creation of new tasks (such as formative and summative assessment pieces) that were previously inconceivable while catering to learns through interactive resources, individual and collaborative work. This blog discusses my views on contemporary learners and teachers.  Contemporary Learners How will the characteristics of our Gen Z learners depicted in the Meet GenZ video define their engagement in the traditional classroom snippet? The traditional classroom showed in the video would be ineffective in classrooms across the globe in nowadays. Gen Z learners have become accustom to inclusive classrooms and differentiated teaching strategies.
